FlamenCubeando is born from the passion for music without borders and from the desire to build bridges between genres that, although born in different corners of the world, share the same emotional root: the truth of feelings. Presented to the public for the first time in December 2010 at the Teatro Darymelia in Jaén, this artistic project arises from the need to offer a new perspective on the bolero, the Cuban son, and tango, fusing them with the universal and deeply expressive language of flamenco, always with absolute respect for the essence and roots of each style.
Far from reinventing for the sake of reinventing, FlamenCubeando proposes a musical journey full of sensitivity, where the flamenco voice becomes the common thread of immortal songs that are part of our collective memory. Timeless themes return with renewed sound, fresher and more exciting, taking advantage of the melodic, harmonic, and emotional richness of flamenco to dialogue with universal repertoires. Thus, the viewer discovers new textures and nuances in emblematic pieces while tradition and innovation naturally merge.
FlamenCubeando's repertoire is a living tribute to Ibero-American and Mediterranean song, embracing bolero, tango, Cuban son, singer-songwriter music, and contemporary classical music. Unforgettable works such as Nostalgias, Toda una Vida, Obsesión, El día que me quieras, Lágrimas Negras, Dos Gardenias, Alfonsina y el Mar, Libertango, Lucía, Por una cabeza, Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón, Aquellas pequeñas cosas, Garganta con arena or Fina Estampa take on a new sonic dimension, coexisting alongside compositions by universally renowned authors such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Fito Páez, Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Cano or Sting.
On stage, FlamenCubeando showcases a carefully crafted instrumental richness where the piano, bass, guitar, Peruvian cajón, transverse flute and MIDI wind controller form the basis of an elegant and nuanced proposal. To this sound are added various percussion instruments, the requinto, harmonics or the Venezuelan cuatro, creating musical landscapes of immense timbral richness that envelop the viewer in an intense, intimate and deeply evocative experience.
Since its inception, the group has developed a solid artistic career, highlighted by notable concerts such as their participation in Los Jiennenses del Año in June 2012 in front of over a thousand spectators or their successful presentation concert in January 2013, backed by excellent press reviews. Also of particular significance was their participation as guests at the XXXVIII Sabandeño Festival in 2014, where they performed in front of more than 8,000 people sharing the stage with the legendary Canary Islands group, in an event that consolidated the reach and recognition of the project.
FlamenCubeando is made up of four musicians with extensive and recognized careers: Curro Pérez on vocals, Fernando Delgado on piano, Luis Delgado on strings, and Luis Delgado Jr. on flute, percussion, and wind MIDI controller. The experience and sensitivity of its members allow each concert to become a space for encountering musical cultures, where emotion, virtuosity, and authenticity constantly engage in dialogue.
As a Chilean artist once expressed: “Music arises from the need to express and convey the purest feelings of human reality.” Guided by this philosophy, FlamenCubeando takes the stage with the firm purpose of moving, touching, and surprising audiences, delivering a proposal that is as innovative as it is respectful of the traditions that inspire it.
Committed to preserving and spreading the world’s musical heritage, FlamenCubeando wholeheartedly embraces flamenco, tango, and fado—all declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO—and simultaneously champions the artistic and cultural value of bolero and Cuban son, turning each concert into a celebration of memory, emotion, and musical fusion.
