Pilar Jurado

Pilar Jurado is one of the most prominent figures in European classical music. A composer, singer, and orchestra conductor, she has been the first woman in history to premiere her own opera, "La página en blanco," at the Teatro Real, also serving as the libretto's author and performing one of the leading roles. She has performed as a soprano alongside the world's most important orchestras, and as a composer, she has premiered nearly a hundred works and received commissions from the most representative international festivals, as well as from orchestras, instrumental groups, and soloists of recognized prestige.

The program she offers in this concert alongside baritone Luis Santana consists of a selection of great arias in Tribute to Maria Callas, including several pieces by Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti; arias from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni and the mythical Casta Diva, by Bellini.

PILAR JURADO - Soprano

Pilar Jurado is one of the most unique figures in European classical music and a prominent reference in contemporary creation, having premiered over a hundred works by national and international composers. Born in Madrid, she trained at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música, where she earned advanced degrees in singing, piano, composition, orchestral conducting, musicology, and musical pedagogy.

Her artistic versatility has led her to develop a brilliant career as a performer, composer, and creator, exploring new musical languages and founding her own record label in 2008. Among her numerous accolades are the RNE Ojo Crítico Award, the First Prize SGAE of Musical Composition, the Capri Prize 2010, the Glamour Awards Top Woman of the Year in Arts, and recognition as one of the Top 100 Leading Women in Spain. Her commitment to artistic innovation and the dialogue between tradition and modernity make her a unique figure in the international music scene.

As a soprano, she has performed with major international orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish National Orchestra, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the baton of maestros like Giuseppe Sinopoli, James Levine, or Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. In recent years, she has released recordings such as *Arias de cine* and *El diablo en el poder*, and has promoted socially committed initiatives like *Music Against Child Labor*, in collaboration with the ILO and prominent international conductors such as Claudio Abbado, José Antonio Abreu, or Daniel Barenboim.

LUIS SANTANA - Baritone

This Zamoran baritone began his musical studies at the age of five, studying with some of the greatest teachers such as Juana Peñalver, Consuelo Barrio, María Teresa Manzano, Miguel Zanetti, and currently with the eminent Spanish tenor Pedro Lavirgen and with Teresa Berganza.
