Over the past few years, María Galiana has developed a close artistic collaboration with baritone Luis Santana, with whom she currently has four successful recitals on tour accompanied on piano by Víctor Carbajo: Yo voy soñando caminos, Versos en Libertad, Cuéntame tu Navidad and Eterno Federico.
Yo voy soñando caminos is a delicate and moving recital in which María Galiana performs texts by key authors in her life’s work such as Antonio Machado, Jorge Manrique, Amado Nervo, Saint Teresa of Jesus, Benedetti or León Felipe, alternating the spoken word with the voice of Luis Santana. The show stems from the actress’s personal desire to share a selection of poems deeply tied to her sensibility, creating an intimate encounter between poetry, music and emotion that directly connects with the audience.
MARÍA GALIANA - Interpreter
Maria Galiana Medina, Spanish actress born in Seville.
Graduate in Philosophy and Literature, María worked as a teacher until 2000, the year in which Benito Zambrano offered her a role in the highly awarded film Solas.
She then signed with Grupo Ganga S.L. for the series Cuéntame cómo pasó. This series would turn her into one of the most beloved characters for the audience, Herminia, the grandmother of the Alcántara family. A Spanish Television series that has achieved one of the most notable successes in TVE's history. Prior to working in Solas, she combined her teaching job with theatre and cinema.
Among other film directors, she has worked with: Jose Luis Garcia Sánchez, Fernando Trueba, Jaime de Armiñán, Jose L. Cuerda or Vicente Aranda. And in theatre, as it could not be otherwise, she combined the recording of the series with the following theatrical projects, worth mentioning: Assembly of Women by Aristophanes directed by Juan Echanove at the Mérida Classical Theatre Festival. Conversations with Mama directed by Juan Echanove. The House of Bernarda Alba directed by Amelia Ochandiano.
María has been awarded the following prizes: Medal of Andalusia. The Circle of Cinematographic Writers (medal for best actress for Solas). Goya for best supporting actress for Solas. Iris Award, female supporting performance category in Cuéntame cómo pasó. Medal of Labour.
LUIS SANTANA - Baritone
This Zamoran baritone began his musical studies at the age of five and has trained with great masters such as Juana Peñalver, Consuelo Barrio, María Teresa Manzano, Miguel Zanetti, tenor Pedro Lavirgen, and Teresa Berganza. He has performed in some of the most important theaters and concert halls in Spain, including the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the National Auditorium of Music, Seville’s Maestranza, the Cervantes Theatre in Málaga, the Calderón Theatre in Valladolid, and the Victoria Eugenia in San Sebastián, in addition to developing an intense international activity in cities such as Rome, Paris, Milan, Budapest, Vienna, Lisbon, and Riga. He has worked under the baton of prestigious conductors and starred in memorable concerts such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the National Auditorium alongside the Orfeón Donostiarra, Mozart’s Requiem at Seville Cathedral, Brahms’s Requiem at the Old Cathedral of Salamanca, and notable tributes to Teresa Berganza, Victoria de los Ángeles, and Ainhoa Arteta.
His artistic versatility has allowed him to tackle a wide repertoire spanning opera, zarzuela, oratorio, and recitals. He has participated in major national and international festivals and shared the stage with prominent figures in the Spanish music and theater scene. Among his most notable performances are concerts before Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain at the Basilica of the Pilar in Zaragoza, collaborations with artists such as Nati Mistral, Paco Valladares, and Rosa Torres-Pardo. His career has established him as one of the most recognized and appreciated voices in the Spanish lyric repertoire.
